Nechako Reservoir Paddle - Conclusion
Arnie having the free, unopened beer that we found at Wistaria Provincial Park on Day 1.
The plan was to drive back up to highway 16 (i.e. the highway back to Prince George) and stop in at the Cobb Lake Forestry campground to camp for the night. Same place we camped on the way up here. However, the weather was not very nice that day. We were getting a lot of rain on the way back.
The first thing we needed to do was to stop in at the Burns Lake Forestry office to report in and let them know that we were finished the trip. The folks in the office told us that they were starting to wonder where we were. They were actually thinking about us because this journey was very unusual. They were very happy to see us and interested in the details of our journey. So we spent a little time there talking to the group. I believe Arnie made a point of telling the search and rescue officer about the portage trail around the Redfern Rapids.. This officer was the one who told us that the trail should be easy and that we should be able to use our wheels. We thought that we should give him an update for any future inquiries.
Then we drove on to Vanderhoof and stopped in at that forestry office there. This was a very quick stop because none of the people we spoke to, on the way in, were there at that moment. So Maria just left a message with the person at the front desk to notify the officers that we had completed the trip.
Off we went. As we drove further east, towards Prince George, the weather seemed to be getting worse. Then we started having a discussion about what we should do for tonight's stop. It didn't take us long to decide that we should just drive to Prince George and stay at a motel for the night. Arnie and Maria, who are very familiar with Prince George, knew exactly which motel to stay at and so Maria booked us a room at this motel online from her phone. BAM. This was the right thing to do. We had an excellent stay at the Carmel Inn in PG that night.
Earlier in this story I mentioned that Maria did some knitting on her spare time at many of our camps. I did not know what she was knitting or for whom. But, when we were in our motel room she handed me this awesome pair of socks and said: "Here you go. I made these for you.". Well I was floored. I absolutely love these socks (which I wear whenever it gets cooler). Thank you so much Maria..

My favourite pair of socks!
The End!
