Atlin Trip - Atlin
The town of Atlin

We decided to stay here for the night. A little luxury before our paddling trip.

View of Atlin Lake from the pub in our hotel.

Here we go!

This is probably the deepest/clearest blue water I've ever seen.

First day of paddling complete and our first camp.

The morning of day 2. This would be the only clear weather we would get for the next 3 days. The weather would change drastically over the next few hours.

Day 2 of paddling complete. Our next camp.

This our second camp but we would stay here for two days. Waiting for the weather to clear up.

The video below was taken at the tip of the point shown in the map (above). This is as far as we got. The beginning of this video looks out across the bay to the south of this point. The weather and water conditions on that side of the point seemed too risky for us to continue. So we decided to stay put on the more sheltered side of this point (north side) for a day (on day 2).
The next day, when we woke up, still didn't look good. So we waited for things to calm down a bit and tried to paddle back to Warm Bay. However we would get stuck again later as you'll see further down in the photo sequence (including a video showing our next stopping point).

Day 3. Unexpected stop for the night. Our intention was to paddle all the way back to Warm Bay to finish our paddle. However, after we stopped at this beach for a break, another wild storm quickly crept up on us and everything changed within the span of 20 minutes.
We tried to launch our boats from the shore against the wind and (now) 2 foot waves crashing up against the shore but we both tipped our boats and started taking in water. That was pretty much the end of that. It was a good thing that we found this shelter because we were all wet and cold at this point. This shelter had a stove in it. So we rounded up and cut up some dry beach wood and got a fire going. This got the shelter really nice and warm, to the point where we could hang up all our wet gear and dry it off.

End of day 3. What a change from the storm we had earlier that afternoon. I turned out beautiful. Managed to get my fishing rod out after dinner that evening and caught an Arctic Greyling. It was a good day.

Day 4. Final day on Atlin and what a morning we got. We couldn't have asked for a better morning. Great photos on the lake this fine morning.

Warm Bay! Back where we started.

A couple of quick hikes before leaving the Atlin area
