Some of My Past Hikes - To Be Done Again I Hope

The Lions taken from Richmond

Rather than trying to recapture all of the details of my past hikes as seperately documented pages, I decided to wrap and summarize my past hikes on this page just in the interest of saving time (my time of course).

One of the reasons I'd like to quickly summarize these hikes is because, when I did them, I did not have a good camera and I was also not really thinking much about recording information about them. Therefore, my covereage of these expeditions was rather sparse to say the least. Nonetheless, I do have some old photos to share.

I hope to redo all of these hikes at some point and will then profile each one in much greater and better detail when I do. All of these hikes deserve their own story. So here, for now, is brief coverage of each.

Golden Ears

This park is the one I've visited the most. Probably because it is so close to home and it is absolutely spectacular here. At the time of publishing this article, I had two other articles on this park posted here at SasqWatch.ca and will likely have one more to better cover the climb to the summit.

The other two posts related to Golden Ears can be found here:

For the purpose of this segment, I'd like to focus on the climb to the summit. This climb is considered fairly difficult. When I was in good shape, this hike took 11 hours in total round trip from the parking lot. In my opinion, the best time of the year to do this is in the spring after the snow has had a chance to melt and harden. I have done this climb 6 times. There are some excellent water sources at that time of the year from streams running down the mountain from the snow fields.

Mt. Seymour

This is one of the mountains just outside of Vancouver city itself. One of the North Shore mountains. I've climbed this one a few times but never really got into taking too many pictures of this one. Mostly because it was more of a workout hike. In the past I would normally drive up to where the ski lodge is and then climb the mountain along the ski runs (in the spring time).

The Lions

This climb is about as tough as the Golden Ears hike, if you start from the bottom at Lions Bay. I've done this climb twice and it is absolutely spectacular as well. On this climb you get an amazing view of the Strait of Georgia looking out towards Vancouver Island and Howe Sound inlet. This would take about 9 hours round trip and is extremely steep as most North Shore mountains are.
