Matsqui Trail

What to do on another gorgeous January day? Well I was a little tired this afternoon so I decided to take an easy walk along the Fraser river in Abbotsford. All of these shots were taken this afternoon. The weather changed pretty quick though. There's a big weather system moving in. These are just some of the sights you can see from this nice little trail. The trail is actually part of the dyke built up along the river.

nteresting point about this bridge (below). The Fraser is a hot spot for some of the best salmon fishing. There are two types of fishing licenses required to fish on the Fraser (tidal and fresh water). Since the Fraser flows out to the ocean, it is considered tidal right up to this bridge (to the left or west of the bridge) and fresh water (to the right or east of the bridge). In fact the river actually flows backwards, just past this bridge when high tide is coming in. This bridge is about 80 kms from the ocean. That's a lot of force from the ocean. Depending on which side of the bridge you fish on, determines what type of license you need. This bridge crosses the Fraser from Abbotsford into Mission.

Saw this beautiful young Bald eagle along the way - doesn't have its colors yet.
